2012 Cadillac Cars

2012 Cadillac Cars. The flagship luxury brand of General Motors, Cadillac’s renaissance is generally traced back to the introduction of the rear-drive CTS in 2002 targeted directly at the BMW 3 Series. But before then, in 1999, it was the Escalade that put Cadillac in the spotlight right when the luxury SUV segment was taking off. The second-generation CTS brought about Coupe and SportWagon variants. The SRX crossover is another volume model for the brand. A flagship luxury sedan, known as the XTS, arrives in 2012 to replace the SLS and DTS.

Formed from the remnants of the Henry Ford Company, Cadillac is named after Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, a French explorer who founded the city of Detroit. The company was bought by GM in 1909. Known as ‘The Standard of the World” Cadillac was the first to bring to market a car with an electric ignition in 1912 and the first to use a V16 in 1930. The post-war boom of the 1950s was a golden area for the brand with growing sales, growing size and those iconic tailfins.

In 2004 Cadillac launched its V performance brand to rival BMW’s M and Mercedes’ AMG. With a focus on performance and in motorsports, the second generation CTS-V finally topped the Germans, with the 556-hp sedan being the first 4-door to run a sub 8 minute lap on Germany’s famed Nurburgring.

Cadillac News.

2012 DT7. Cadillac had planned to replace the rear-drive STS and front-drive DTS with one flagship, codenamed DT7. But in late summer that project was put on hold for one year. GM reportedly delayed funding the program just as Cadillac finished design work on the sedan.
Here's where the GM's cash crunch, the nuked economy, and concerns over the next-generation CAFE laws have coalesced into a perfect storm: The DT7 is precisely the sort of flagship car Cadillac needs to be considered a legitimate player in the luxury segment, a car that should play with Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7 Series, Lexus LS 460, and-yes-Hyundai's astounding new Genesis sedan. GM will be watching the national/global zeitgeist to determine whether building a new, large sedan makes better sense in late 2009 than it does in late 2008.
If GM spikes the project-plans were scrapped for a large Chevy sedan using the same architecture but on a shorter-wheelbase employing totally different sheetmetal and interior trim, and cheaper suspension components, which would have helped the business case-there's a lower-cost alternative: Design new sheetmetal for the stretch-wheelbase STS currently built for the Chinese market. In either scenario, likely engines will include the gas direct-injection 3.6 V-6 and the 4.5-liter turbodiesel V-8.

Cadillac Escalade Accessories.

For 2011, the Cadillac Escalade's standard navigation system has been upgraded from DVD-based to SD-card-based, while the six-disc CD/DVD changer has been dropped in favor of a single-disc unit.
Introduction. There are luxury SUVs and then there's the 2011 Cadillac Escalade. There are full-size SUVs and then there's the Escalade. You could buy any number of big, luxurious vehicles instead, but there's just no true substitute for Cadillac's celebration of power, brashness and wheels in a package so large the Amish could stick one in a river to power a grain mill.
At its core, the Escalade is the ultimate realization of GM's full-size truck and SUV platform. A beefy 403-horsepower V8 is standard and provides excellent acceleration for a truck that weighs nearly 3 tons. An adjustable suspension that's standard on all but the base Escalade optimizes ride and handling. Most notably, the Escalade's interior is of higher quality and looks entirely different from what you'll find in a related Chevy Tahoe or GMC Yukon. Truly, the Escalade lives up to its Cadillac badge.

Even if you love the Escalade's distinct style, there are some factors to consider before you throw your money down. For one, a recent study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety deemed the Escalade to be the most stolen SUV in America by a considerable margin -- an onboard Doberman might be a good idea. Also, the Escalade's third-row seat is less practical than that of other full-size luxury SUVs, since it both lacks legroom and must be removed in order to get a flat cargo area.
